Do you ever feel you’re in a rut? You’re getting too-used-to your comfort zone.
In 3 Strategies to get out of a Comfort Coma, a Vistage member shared three strategies to get you out.
- Recognize that you’ve fallen into a routine, and you can’t spell ‘routine’ without ‘r-u-t.’ Change it.
- Work on the highest vision of yourself, find a support system of champions, and harness their strength
- Even with talented people and well-established processes, if leaders don’t foster risk and accept failure, complacency will settle in.
So, as the author says, “snap out if it!”
One way is to find a new set of friends and/or join a new organization with leaders who will inspire you. Another is to take a close look at the culture of the most successful companies you know and see how the avoid falling into complacency routines. It’s one of the things I enjoy most about the work I do with my three companies: constantly being energized by creative, purposeful people trying to make a difference in their lives and those of others.
